This book of nearly 600 pages will be presented to the public on Nov.6, 2008, at the Cultural Center in Laupheim. The project was started by it's editors in 2002. The intention was to research the lives and fates of all the members of the Jewish congregation, as per their families, and to present the results by text and illustrations. The year 1933 was chosen as deadline because then, with Hitler having been assigned as chancellor of the Reich, began the decline of the congregation.

In order to cope with this wide task, the two editors succeeded to mobilize a competent team of co-operators. As a whole twelve individuals were involved, all of them volunteering, performing most valuable research in local history. Altogether the vast material was provided by nearly a dozen of archives, numerous photo collections, the available literature, and interviews of witnesses. But the most impressive moments were when co-operators established contacts to off-springs or even survivors of the congregation. A few hundred illustrations in the book provide a living memory of this extinct community.

The authors hope that their work will contribute to the active involvement with the past, to the improvement of the living together of Christians and Jews in the present days, and to learn from the mistakes of yesterday for a better future.
